Purchased these for myself and my family. With Bird flu on the rise as well as other circulating viruses, we wanted to have these on hand for high risk situations. With their cute colors and styles, we don't draw unwanted attention since they look like regular glasses.

OK, so I just had cataract surgery with Light Adjustable Lenses. In case you're not familiar with LAL surgery, it's a very new technology that allows the newly implanted lenses to be adjusted several times with UV light in order to perfect one's vision. The caveat is that until the final adjustment is "locked in," one must carefully protect one's eyes from any UV light which could inadvertently change one's vision.
The maker of the lenses supply UV-blocking glasses to all patients--both sunglasses and clear lenses. They are unisex glasses. The sunglasses are kind of cool looking, but the ones with clear lenses are RIDICULOUS looking, especially for a woman. Think 1960s cartoon Martian glasses. (See photos.) Since I will have to wear these glasses all the time for the next six weeks or so until both eyes are done and final adjustments made, I was desperate for an alternative.
I asked my eye surgeon if I could wear an alternate pair of glasses indoors if they were 100% UV-blocking and mercifully he said yes. That led me to an online search, which led me to Stoggles. Hallelujah! While the round frames are a bit large for my narrow face, the clear grey frames are not only flattering, but they also look like NORMAL glasses! I can go out in public with them and not feel the need to apologize for my futuristic-looking glasses or to have to explain that I just had cataract surgery. THANK YOU, STOGGLES!!!
